Illinois Appellate Court
Criminal Court
Evidence
Defendant, a parking enforcement officer for village, was convicted of theft and official misconduct, charged with taking and keeping cash in exchange for removing "Denver boots" from cars. Official misconduct charge and theft offenses were based on same act in violation of one-act, one-crime doctrine. Erroneous admission of computer records without proper foundation was harmless error, given overwhelming circumstantial evidence that Defendant intended to permanently deprive Village of money.
