    TIMOTHY J. STORM has over 30 years' experience and concentrates his law practice in appellate litigation and providing litigation support to trial counsel, which includes preserving issues for appeal, assisting in developing an overall legal theory and strategy, and briefing complex motions.

    Described by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin as a “prominent Illinois appellate lawyer,” Storm is among less than 5% of lawyers in the state to have been designated as “Super Lawyers” over multiple years by Super Lawyer Magazine. He is rated 10 out of 10 (Superb) by Avvo and he also holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible peer-review rating in legal ability and ethical standards.

    The Illinois State Bar Association honored him with its Board of Governors Award in 2015 for “long-standing and exemplary contributions to the association and the legal profession.” He received the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Distinguished Service Award in 2013 for successful appellate representation of low income clients.

    Storm is the author of three books: Illinois Appellate Practice Manual, the comprehensive two-volume treatise covering civil appeals (2015–2024 editions); Illinois Civil Litigation Guide (2012–2013 updates and 2014–2025 editions); and Courtroom Handbook on Illinois Evidence (2021–2025 editions), all published by Thomson Reuters, the nation’s leading legal publisher. His articles on appellate and trial practice have been published in numerous law reviews and bar journals and have been cited favorably in opinions of courts of review throughout the country, including the supreme courts of Illinois, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Texas.

    As an adjunct professor at The John Marshall Law School, he taught both appellate advocacy and advanced persuasive writing, the most advanced writing course offered at the school. In addition, he is a highly-rated continuing legal education instructor on topics including appellate practice and persuasive writing.
