Biography
Michael Kawi is the founder and trial attorney at Clear Path Accident & Injury Law, LLC in Lake County, Illinois, where he represents people injured by the negligence or wrongful acts of others throughout Illinois and Wisconsin, with a focus on car, truck, and motorcycle accident claims.
Before opening Clear Path, Michael spent more than a decade as a trial attorney in public service — first at the Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office, then as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Texas. During that time, he conducted dozens of jury trials and hundreds of depositions, experience he now brings to preparing and litigating personal injury cases.
Michael earned his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and his Bachelor of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, Florida, and the District of Columbia, and belongs to the American Association for Justice and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He handles injury cases on a contingency basis — clients pay nothing unless he recovers compensation for them.
