Attorney John G. O'Brien, of Arlington Heights, has been elected treasurer of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) by the organization's 25-member board, which directs the operations and activities of the 30,000-member organization.

A sole practitioner in Arlington Heights, O'Brien concentrates his practice in real estate and estate planning.

A member of the ISBA Board of Governors since 2002, he has been an Assembly member since 1997.

O'Brien is a co-founder and chairman of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association. Established in 1997, the organization provides its members with assistance in seeking mutual solutions to the increasingly complex issues that clients face in the typical real estate transaction and also works to help educate the public about the value of using an attorney when buying or selling a home. He also serves on the board of Attorneys' Title Guaranty Fund, Inc.

The ISBA, with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public.
