Biography
Julie C. King
King Patent Law, PLLC — Champaign, Illinois
Julie King is a USPTO-registered patent attorney and the founder of King Patent Law, PLLC, a boutique intellectual property and business law firm serving clients across Illinois and nationwide.
Ms. King's practice centers on patent prosecution for mechanical and business method inventions, trademark registration and prosecution, trade secret counseling, and copyright matters. She also advises Illinois businesses on entity formation and business transactions, helping founders and small business owners build a legal foundation that supports the IP they're creating. Her clients range from individual inventors and product-based businesses to established companies protecting brand and technology assets.
Ms. King holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Springfield. She completed engineering-level physics coursework to qualify for the USPTO patent bar, in addition to the technical coursework required for her computer science degree. She has practiced intellectual property law for approximately eight years, including five years as a USPTO-registered patent attorney.
Ms. King works on a flat-fee basis for most matters, giving clients cost certainty before work begins. She does not litigate; contested matters are referred out, though she handles patent and trademark prosecution before the USPTO, including proceedings before the PTAB and TTAB.
