Biography
Douglas C. Giese is a partner at Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP, where he is a key member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Business Disputes Practice Group, as well as the Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy Practice Group.
With extensive experience in general civil litigation in both state and federal courts, Douglas focuses on resolving complex business disputes, particularly in the areas of creditors’ rights, mortgage foreclosure, mechanics’ lien enforcement, and post-judgment enforcement.
He is highly skilled in obtaining and enforcing judgments, ensuring that his client’s legal victories translate into tangible results.
Prior to joining the firm, he served as a certified mediator at the Center for Conflict Resolution, successfully representing clients in ADR proceedings before the American Arbitration Association and other private dispute resolution panels.
Douglas is deeply involved in the legal community, serving as a member of the Illinois Creditors Bar Association, where he sits on the Board of Directors, chairs the Technology Committee, and is a member of the Education Committee. He is also active in the Chicago Bar Association. Additionally, Douglas volunteers with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services as a panel referral attorney, providing pro bono legal assistance to those in need.
