Daniel P. Felix has been serving families as a Trustee for more than thirty years. Rated as a “Super Lawyer”, Dan has successfully managed a wide variety of trusts and fiduciary positions. Certified as a Master Trustee since 2019 by the Independent Trustee Alliance, Dan’s primary work involves stepping in as a replacement trustee, often for families who have fallen into crisis over the administration of their trusts. Dan has written and spoken extensively on trusts and trust administration, including on the power of pre-fiduciary preparedness. In 2025 the James E. Hughes Jr Foundation published Dan’s first book “The Way of the Trustee: a holistic guide to enlightened trust administration in service to families”.

Hired to teach lawyers and other professional trust administrators, Dan also served as the chair for continuing education of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Trust and Estates section from 2020 through 2023, producing, hosting and participating in many programs related to trust administration. He has also presented for the Family Firm Institute, the Independent Trustee Alliance, the Alliance of Comprehensive Planners, the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Purposeful Planning Institute, Wealth Counsel, the Financial Planning Association, and the Delaware Bankers Association.

Dan earned his Bachelor of Arts in American Civilization from the University of Illinois, Urbana and his Juris Doctor from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.

Dan is currently devoting his writing, speaking and teaching to advancing pre-fiduciary preparedness, including several books.
