The Department of Public Health adopted amendments to its Sexual Assault Survivors Emergency Treatment Code. Within 60 days of the department’s request, hospitals must submit a plan to provide either transfer services to all sexual assault survivors, medical forensic services to all sexual assault survivors, or transfer services to pediatric sexual assault survivors; and medical forensic services to sexual assault survivors 13 years and older.

The Department of Public Health amended the Assisted Living and Shared Housing Establishment Code to clarify investigation procedures. The department must provide assisted living facility establishments with a statement of findings and violations within 10 business days of exiting a facility’s annual on-site inspection.

The Department of Public Health adopted amendments to the Manufactured Home Installation Code. The amendments require all licensed manufactured home installers with a current Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) installer’s license to complete three hours of Illinois-specific training when or before their HUD continuing education training is due, beginning Jan. 1, 2025.

The Illinois General Assembly amended the Pharmacy Practice Act. While previously permissive, pharmacists now must dispense opioid antagonists following written procedures developed by the Department of Public Health and Department of Human Services and filed at the pharmacy before implementation.

The Department of Public Health adopted the CLEAR-Win Program Code, implementing the Comprehensive Lead Education, Reduction and Window Replacement Program Act (CLEAR-Win) to assist property owners in reducing the lead hazards in single-family homes and rental properties.

The Illinois General Assembly amended the Medical Practice Act of 1987. The amendment provides that the Illinois Department of Public Health may not take any action against a physician regarding their license or permit to practice for the following reasons:

The Department of Public Health amended its ambulatory surgical treatment center licensing requirements. Among the new requirements, ambulatory surgical treatment centers are now subject to changes in their preoperative care policies and emergency transfer protocols.

This Act amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois.

The Department of Health amended the Hospital Licensing requirements. Hospitals must post the rights listed by the Medical Patient Rights Act on websites and at prominent locations within their buildings. In addition, hospitals may not discharge or refer patients to health care facilities that are unlicensed, uncertified, or unregistered.

The Department of Public Health adopted amendments to the Skilled Nursing and Intermediate Care Facilities Code. The amendments implement requirements for nursing facilities to designate infection prevention professionals. The amendment also implements policies to monitor and control infectious and communicable diseases.

The Department of Public Health adopted amendments to the Sexual Assault Survivors Emergency Treatment Code. The amendment allows sexual assault survivors to obtain a medical forensic examination and have evidence collected after seven days following the assault.

The Department of Public Health adopted amendments to the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program. These amendments update various definitions and incorporations, expand the list of debilitating conditions, add requirements for health care professionals regarding the completion of a written certification, and add participation requirements for veterans receiving care at Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facilities.

The Department of Public Health adopted several amendments to the Skilled Nursing and Immediate Care Facilities Code, implementing the Nursing Home Care Act. The amendments grant the department increased oversight of nursing homes, including increased penalties for violations of the Code and new procedures for obtaining informed consent for the administration of psychotropic drugs.

The Department of Public Health (IDPH) adopted a series of amendments to the Illinois Clinical Laboratories Code implementing federal regulations from the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) of 1981.

The Department of Public Health (IDPH) adopted amendments to the Control of Communicable Diseases Code, setting new standards for the control of cases and contacts for coronavirus diseases like COVID-19, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), and Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).

Feb. 6, 2019)), implementing Public Act 100-1029, which clarifies the circumstances under which health-care employees may decline annual flu vaccinations offered by their employers.

The Department of Public Health repealed 41 sections of the existing food code and simultaneously introduced new provisions in Illinois that align Illinois' grading system methods with those of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (77 Ill. Adm. Code 750 (effective Dec. 7, 2018)).
