About the Bar

The purpose and object of the Association is to cultivate the science of jurisprudence, to promote reform in the law, to facilitate the administration of justice, to elevate the standard of integrity, honor, and courtesy in the legal profession, to promote a cordial relationship with the public, to encourage a thorough and liberal legal education, and to cultivate and cherish a spirit of fellowship among the members thereof.

The JCBA meets on the third Thursday of each month from 12:00 to 1:00 at a Jackson County restaurant. Meetings typically contain a 45 minute of CLE. Members also have access to an email distribution which provides law related updates and announcements. The JCBA is an active organization which participates in many community initiatives. It holds an annual social event each May for its members, engages frequently with SIU school of Law, and assists with planning and execution of the Joint CLE Event which takes place each spring-time.
