Citation
Case Number:
No. 22-1781
Decision Date:
January 5, 2023
Federal District:
Petition for Review, Order of Board of Immigration Appeals
Holding:
Petition denied

Record contained sufficient evidence to support IJ’s denial of petitioner’s asylum claim, even though petitioner argued that he had been subjected to political persecution. While petitioner testified that members of rival political party in Bangladesh on three occasions either threatened him with physical violence or subjected him to physical violence on account of his party affiliation, IJ could properly find that petitioner was not credible, where: (1) petitioner could not accurately testify with respect to principles of his political party; (2) petitioner could not recall recent, high-profile events that concerned petitioner’s political party during time when petitioner was allegedly recruiting individuals for his party; and (3) petitioner failed to give any relevant details with respect to number of people he recruited for his political party, average age of his recruits or length of time he served as recruiter for his political party. IJ could also properly find that petitioner failed to provide any documentary evidence to corroborate his testimony that he incurred certain injuries associated with his asylum claim.
