No. 22-3035

Federal District:
Petition for Review, Order of Board of Immigration Appeals
Holding:
Petition denied

Record supported IJ’s denial of petitioner’s application for asylum and withholding of removal relief, even though petitioner claimed that she received death threats on account of her status as small business owner, where petitioner testified that Honduran individuals demanded that she pay money in order for her to remain in business, and that if she did not do so, that she would be killed. With respect to both of her claims, petitioner could not prevail because she failed to establish any nexus between her proffered group of small business owners and any animosity by unidentified extortion group. Moreover, petitioner’s own testimony ruled out her status as female business owner as motivation for said threats because she indicated that all business owners were subject to same threats.
