Federal 7th Circuit Court
Criminal Court
Jury Instructions
Defendants were found guilty of federal crimes relating to their work at a grain mill where an explosion caused the death of five employees. On appeal, they challenged the district court’s evidentiary rulings and jury instructions, the indictment, the sufficiency of the evidence, and the constitutionality of the convictions. The Seventh Circuit vacated the conviction on one count against one of the defendants but affirmed the remaining convictions against that defendant and against the co-defendant.
