Federal 7th Circuit Court
Civil Court
Summary Judgment
Defendant sued his employer under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act alleging retaliation after he complained about gender discrimination in the workplace. A jury found that plaintiff successfully demonstrated that the employer had engaged in retaliatory behavior but found he had not suffered any mental or emotional pain. On appeal, plaintiff argued that the district court erred when it granted partial summary judgment for the defendant, which limited the types of adverse employment actions he could present at trial. The Seventh Circuit affirmed, finding that the district court did not err in its granting of partial summary judgment. (HAMILTON and KIRSCH, concurring)
