Federal 7th Circuit Court
Criminal Court
Sentencing
Defendant was found guilty of four counts, including conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and was sentenced to 216 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release. On appeal, defendant argued that the district court erred when it designated him as a career offender, attributed to him a drug quantity of more than 1,000 grams of heroin, and applied a four-level leadership enhancement to his sentence. The Seventh Circuit affirmed, finding either that defendant had waived his objections or that the circuit court did not err in its determinations regarding sentencing.
