Plaintiff filed a lawsuit against the City of Aurora and several city police officers, alleging that the officers violated his Fourth Amendment rights when they entered his home without a warrant and arrested him for domestic battery. The district court entered summary judgment for the officers, finding that exigent circumstances justified their entry and that probable cause supported his arrest. The district court dismissed the lawsuit and ordered that plaintiff pay defendants’ costs. The Seventh Circuit affirmed, finding that the warrantless entry was reasonable under the exigent circumstances and that the district court did not abuse its discretion in awarding costs.
