Federal 7th Circuit Court
Civil Court
42 U.S.C.§ 1983
Plaintiff filed a lawsuit under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 against law enforcement officials alleging that he was threatened and harassed by fellow inmates after detectives spoke with him to determine whether he had information about a murder and an attempted murder. The district court denied defendants’ motion for summary judgment and they appealed, arguing that they were entitled to qualified immunity. The Seventh Circuit reversed, finding that plaintiff did not identify a violation of a clearly established constitutional right and, as a result, the defendants were entitled to summary judgment.
