In consolidated apeals, the Seventh Circuit considered the constitutionality of the Protect Illinois Communities Act, which criminalizes the manufacture, sale, delivery, possession, and purchase of assault weapons and large capacity magazines. The district court held that the Act was unconstitutional. The Seventh Circuit reversed, finding that the Act’s restrictions on assault weapons and large capacity magazines are consistent with the principles that underpin the nation’s tradition of firearm regulation.
