Plaintiffs, a father and son, filed a lawsuit against the Wisconsin Department of Corrections alleging that the DOC violated their constitutional rights to free speech and procedural due process after the father was terminated from his job as a correctional officer for alerting his son, who was an inmate, to an upcoming search in violation of workplace rules. The district court dismissed both claims and plaintiffs appealed. The Seventh Circuit affirmed, finding the circumstances alleged in the complaint did not violate the First or Fourteenth Amendments.
