Center for Gestalt Development, Inc. v. Bowman

Plaintiff filed a federal action for copyright infringement regarding the copyright of an article contained in a collection of unpublished manuscripts. The plaintiff held the copyright for the collection but not for the individual article and by the time plaintiff obtained a copyright to the article, the previous owners had granted a third party permission to use the article in a book. The district court entered summary judgment for the defendants and plaintiffs appealed. The Seventh Circuit affirmed, finding no error. (PRYOR and MALDONADO, concurring)
