Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
Court properly dismissed complaint against law firm for violations of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Law firm comprised of licensed attorneys who file suits on behalf of collection agencies is exempt from requirements of Illinois Collection Agency Act. Fair Debt Collection Practices Act prohibits threats to take action that cannot legally be taken, but does not prohibit illegal actions actually taken or to collection suits actually filed by law firm.
