Defendant was convicted, after bench trial, of reckless discharge of a firearm (for shooting his .22-caliber handgun into the ground at a New Year's Eve party) and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.Defendant did not fire gun into the air or near to any persons; other partygoers were behind him, and his conduct did not create substantial risk of endangering bodily safety of others.
