Hosey v. The City of Joliet

Plaintiff, a reporter, submitted 4 FOIA requests to obtain videotaped police interviews of several persons, but City denied the requests. Court properly granted summary judgment for City. Criminal Code prohibits transmission of any electronic recording of any statement made by an accused during a custodial interrogation that is compiled by any law enforcement. The subjects of the FOIA requests are confidential and thus exempt from disclosure under section 7(1)(a) of the FOIA.(LYTTON and WRIGHT, concurring.)
