People v. Miki

Defendant was convicted, after bench trial, of 2 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse based on his having committed the charged sexual acts while he held a position of trust, authority, or supervision in relation to the victim, then age 17. Defendant had been victim's travel soccer coach for several years, up until one month prior to conduct in question, and he continued to give her advice and training about soccer. Victim often sat next to him and his family in church, where victim's father was the pastor; and victim worked part-time for Defendant in his accounting firm.  Ample evidence established that Defendant held a position of trust in relation to victim.(JORGENSEN and  BRIDGES, concurring.)
