Illinois Appellate Court
Civil Court
Legal Malpractice
Plaintiff filed legal malpractice action, alleging that certain negligent legal advice given by law firm caused injured to its business dealings and caused it to incur certain expenses as a result of law firm's negligence. Defendant law firm filed 3rd-party complaint for contribution against another firm and attorneys. Court properly dismissed those 3rd-party claims, as the "injury" alleged in the 3rd-party complaint was not the same "injury" as alleged in the original complaint. Court properly dismissed 3rd-party claim against Attorney Rappa, as his contacts with Illinois could not have given rise to Defendant law firm's cause of action for contribution. (LAMPKIN and REYES, concurring.)
