Awkerman v. Illinois State Police

Plaintiff appealed from a trial court order denying the reinstatement of his firearm owner’s identification card, which was revoked on the basis of his conviction of conspiracy to commit cannabis trafficking. The appellate court affirmed, finding that the trial court did not abuse its discretion in denying plaintiff the requested relief where plaintiff failed to show that he was not likely to endanger the public safety or that issuing him a FOID card would not be contrary to public interest based on his arrest and conviction history and recent participation in dangerous illegal activities.
