Illinois Appellate Court
Civil Court
Parentage Act
Appellant filed a petition to adjudicate parentage and for allocation of parenting time for children conceived through artificial insemination with an individual she was formerly in a romantic relationship with. The trial court dismissed the petition finding that petitioner lacked standing. The appellate court reversed and remanded, finding that even though petitioner was not a biological parent of the children she had standing under the Parentage Act as a person alleging herself to be the parent of the minors as well as an individual who had provided financial support to the children and as an “intended parent.” (LYLE and NAVARRO, concurring)
