Kooistra v. Board of Trustees of Sycamore Police Pension Fund

Plaintiff appealed from a circuit court order affirming a decision of the Board of Trustees of the Sycamore Police Pension Fund in which the board concluded that the plaintiff, who had retired from another police department, was not eligible to participate in the city’s pension fund but that he could participate in a defined contribution plan. The appellate court affirmed both the circuit court order and the board’s decision, finding that the board properly interpreted and applied the applicable section of the Illinois Pension Code.
