Illinois Appellate Court
Civil Court
Defamation
Plaintiffs filed a lawsuit against the defendants for their allegedly defamatory and disparaging statements concerning the plaintiffs’ qualifications for providing professional services. The trial court dismissed the complaint, finding that they were barred by the absolute litigation privilege as the statements were made in connection with quasi-judicial proceedings. The appellate court affirmed, finding that the absolute litigation privilege barred each of plaintiffs’ claims. (KENNEDY and McLAREN, concurring)
