After being open for more than a decade, the circuit court closed the estate of a deceased individual and entered two separate orders: one resolving several outstanding issues and the other distributing the remaining assets of the estate. Petitioner, a daughter of the decedent, filed a motion to reconsider the distribution but did not challenge the other order and did not file a notice of appeal until the trial court denied her motion to reconsider. The petitioner then challenged aspects of both orders on appeal as well as an earlier motion for sanctions. The appellate court dismissed the appeal to the extent that it challenged the fee order, affirmed the judgment denying sanctions and vacated the distribution order and remanded for further proceedings for recalculation.
