Petitioner filed a petition to establish parentage regarding a minor child and respondent filed a motion to dismiss for lack of jurisdiction. The circuit court denied the motion to dismiss and granted respondent’s motion for leave to appeal pursuant to SCR 306(a)(2). On appeal, respondent argued that the trial court erred when it failed to identify Iowa as the minor’s home state, that the court considered factors that occurred outside of the six months immediately preceding the filing of the petition, that it erred when it found that Illinois and not Iowa had significant conditions under the Uniform Child-Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act and that the trial court erred when it failed to conduct a conference with a judge presiding in a pending Iowa action. The appellate court affirmed, finding that the trial court did not err. (BOLLINGER, concurring and VAUGHAN, dissenting)
