Pedigo v. RK Holdings, LLP

Defendant appealed from an order directing it to pay accrued statutory prejudgment interest on a jury verdict in favor of the plaintiff. Defendant argued on appeal that the circuit court did not have jurisdiction to modify the judgment where the plaintiff’s request for accrued prejudgment interest was made more than 30 days after judgment was entered on the verdict. The appellate court affirmed, explaining that because a request made to enforce judgment is not directed against the judgment, it is not subject to the 30-day time limit applicable to post-trial motions.
