Plaintiff filed a lawsuit as a realtor on behalf of the State of Illinois alleging that the defendants violated the Illinois False Claims Act. The trial court dismissed the lawsuit for failure to state a cause of action and plaintiff appealed. The appellate court affirmed, finding that the trial court did not err when it concluded that the lawsuit was barred and explaining that it agreed with federal courts that have noted it is important to discourage realtors, which have suffered no injury, from filing pretextual lawsuits in order to uncover previously unknown wrongs.
