Defendant was found guilty of one count of obstructing a peace officer. On appeal, the defendant argued that the State failed to prove that he was guilty of obstruction beyond a reasonable doubt and that the trial court erred by failing to give two jury instructions that would have defined the terms “knowingly” and “obstruction.” The appellate court reversed, finding that the evidence was insufficient for the defendant to knowingly obstruct the traffic stop and that there was insufficient evidence that the defendant materially impeded the officer’s traffic stop and that there was insufficient evidence to prove that defendant did so knowingly when he questioned the purpose of the traffic stop. (BARBERIS and VAUGHAN, concurring)
