Carr v. Koch

This case presents question as to whether provisions of Ill. education funding system found in section 18-8.05 of School Code are constitutional? Appellate Court rejected plaintiffs' claim that section 18-8.05 violates equal protection clause of Ill. Constitution, even though plaintiffs argued that instant funding system has improper effect of requiring taxpayers in school districts with low property values to pay property taxes to fund local schools at higher percentage rate than similarly situated taxpayers with similarly valued property in school districts with higher property values.
