Illinois Supreme Court
Civil Court
Jurisdiction
In an appeal involving a question of appellate jurisdiction, the supreme court considered whether the appellate court had jurisdiction to hear the plaintiff’s appeal where the plaintiff electronically filed its notice of appeal five days late and did not file a motion seeking leave to show cause or a reasonable excuse for the late filing. The supreme court affirmed the appellate court, finding that when an electronically filed document is rejected the litigant must invoke the supreme court rules to seek recourse.
