Spring is in the air! (Well maybe not quite yet.) As the weather warms up and the days get longer, The Standing Committee on Women & the Law will be gearing up for our annual events to celebrating women in the legal profession. Please SAVE THE DATES and plan to join us for two fantastic occasions to get out of the office for a little entertainment and networking.

On Thursday, March 8, 2017 from WATL will host a High Tea in honor of International Women’s Day at Russian Tea Time; 77 E. Adams Street Chicago from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Visit <www.isba.org?committees/women/rsvptea> to register in advance.

On Thursday, May 11, 2017, WATL along with the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois will co-host our annual Celebrating Women in the Law Luncheon. This outstanding event will feature a screening of the newly released documentary feature film about the history of women in the practice of law entitled “Balancing the Scales” followed by a discussion with the film’s producer, Sharon Rowen, Esq. CLE credit is pending for this event. A registration link will be available soon via the ISBA website.

Also this spring, the Committee is excited for our out-of-Cook County meeting to occur at Acquaviva Winery in Maple Park, Illinois on March 31, 2017, beginning at 11:30 a.m. We will be starting our day with a winery tour and tasting followed by a lunch meeting at this beautiful space located just east of DeKalb. Remember, committee meetings are open to all ISBA members. If interested in attending this special business meeting to learn more about WATL, please contact me or ISBA staff liaison Melissa Burkholder. Hope to see you there!
