A federal judge on Tuesday issued a preliminary injunction that prevents the U.S. Department of Labor from requiring government contractors and grant recipients to certify they do not operate any diversity, equity and inclusion programs that run afoul of anti-discrimination laws until further order from the court.
A hearing board with the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission has recommended a 60-day suspension of Tom DeVore, the Bond County attorney who made a name for himself challenging COVID pandemic orders and running for state attorney general, for rule “violations arising from his dating and business relationships with a client.”
The amendment adds a provision barring employers and their agents from taking adverse action against employees for (1) exercising their rights under the Act, (2) making a complaint to the employer or the Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL), or (3) initiating an investigation or proceeding, or testifying at an investigation or proceeding, related to the Act.
