Member Appreciation Month Is Here!

It’s May at the ISBA, which means it’s Member Appreciation Month. ISBA staff has been hard at work putting together a suite of great programs, contests, prizes, and giveaways. There’s a little something for everyone, so I hope that you take advantage of these amazing opportunities and perks of being an ISBA member.

Free CLE programming

We are offering a lot of great, complimentary CLE programming throughout this month. Our flagship program will be on May 11, when we will bring back celebrity attorney spouses Dana and Keith Cutler, who will deliver a sequel to the microaggression seminar they provided for us last December. Their upcoming program will focus on “courageous conversations.”

On May 3, the ISBA is cohosting a free CLE program with the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois Judges Association concerning an issue that is very near and dear to my heart. The 2022 Celebration of Women as Leaders in the Profession will take place online from 12 to 1:50 p.m. If you’re in the Chicago area, we’ll also be cohosting an outdoor reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on the rooftop of the DePaul University College of Law.

Finally, we’ll be concluding our free Wellness Series in May. Part 2, Building Your Resilience Bank Account, will take place on May 5. Part 3, Building Your Prevention Toolbox, will take place on May 26. (Part 1, Food for Thought, was held on April 14.)

Contests & prizes

May also will be filled with many contests and prizes. As in past years, we’ll be conducting social media contests where members will be entered into drawings after liking and commenting on our posts. And we’re bringing back the popular Illinois Bar Journal caption contest, where members submit clever or humorous captions for a provided image (the winning entry will be published in an upcoming issue). These contests provide quick and easy ways for members to participate and potentially win some great prizes.

Dues renewal incentive

By the time you’re reading this column, you’ll soon be receiving your ISBA dues invoice for the 2022-2023 bar year. Incentivizing members to promptly pay their dues is a big part of Member Appreciation Month and this year we’ve increased the number of prizes in our dues-renewal contest. All members who pay their 2022-2023 membership dues by the end of May will have their names entered in a drawing to win one of five Apple iPads with Apple Pencils. Your chances of winning have never been better!

Everything else

In addition to everything mentioned above, Member Appreciation Month will also feature our annual ISBA bookstore sale and several giveaways from our member discount vendors. We’ll also be having a member appreciation reception in Lisle on May 19.
