The Illinois General Assembly amended the Department of Transportation Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. The amendment establishes the Zero Traffic Fatalities Task Force with the goal of developing policies that will reduce the number of traffic fatalities to zero.

This Act amends the Illinois Highway Code by allowing the Department of Transportation to sell land, easements, dedications, access rights, interest in real estate, or other property no longer needed for highway projects at fair market value. The department will determine the fair market value through an approved, qualified appraiser or a valuation waiver.

The Department of Transportation amended Commercial Driver’s License Standards; Requirements and Penalties. The amendment responds to the federal “No Human Trafficking on Our Roads Act” and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s added penalties for human trafficking.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) adopted amendments to implement the Illinois Vehicle Equipment Law and the Illinois Vehicle Inspection Law. The rulemaking provides updated inspection criteria to accommodate for changes in transportation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Amendments have been adopted updating the Department of Transportation's aviation safety contact information, definitions, and statutory fees, and also clarifying that unmanned aircrafts are not subject to this part (92 Ill. Adm. Code 14) (eff. Mar. 30, 2018).

The Airline Passenger Protection Act, if passed, would prohibit involuntary removal of a passenger from aircrafts except for specific circumstances.

Any person, without a valid license to do so, who transports from out-of-state into Illinois 108 liters (28.53 gallons) or more of wine, 45 liters (11.88 gallons) or more of distilled spirits, or 118 liters (31.17 gallons) of beer shall be guilty of a Class 4 felony for each offense.
