The School Code was amended to require schools to provide written notifications to the parent or guardian when their student commits an act of misconduct.

This Act expands the age range for youth eligible to have an appointed guardian. Before the amendment, Illinois law only allowed children and youth under 18 to be appointed a guardian.

On May 20, 2021, the Illinois Supreme Court affirmed an Illinois Appellate Court decision holding that the Illinois Department of Agriculture (DOA) properly awarded Curative Health Cultivation, LLC (Curative) a permit for operating a medical cannabis cultivation center in Aurora.

On Aug. 27, 2021, the First District of the Illinois Appellate Court held that parental-rights termination hearings conducted by Zoom did not violate due-process rights.
