The ISBA “Lawyer Referral Service” is a regulated bar association Intermediary Connecting Service (“ICS”) under Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct 7.2.
The ISBA Lawyer Referral Service certifies that it does not:
- request or require participating lawyers to act in violation of the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct;
- interfere with the attorney-client relationship between participating lawyers and their clients (or prospective clients), including by unilaterally setting the fee they may charge the client for legal services, or with those lawyers’ independent professional judgment in rendering legal services;
- provide legal advice or legal services to a person seeking a referral or otherwise engage in the practice of law in violation of Illinois’ regulation of the legal profession;
- make any false or misleading statement about itself, its services, participating lawyers, or a participating lawyer’s fees or services;
- engage in improper solicitation pursuant to Illinois Rule of Professional Conduct 7.3, including through its agents and employees;
- use a rating criterion for participating lawyers.
