9:15 a.m. 110. ISBA Council of Law School Deans

A representative of the Council will present recommendations regarding Illinois Bar admissions (participation by conference call)

10:30 a.m. 108. Special Committee on Supreme Court Rule 711

The Board will be asked to consider a response to the recent action of the Supreme Court of Illinois on a proposed amendment to Rule 711. Immediate Past President Davi will be present and Judge Michael Chmiel will join via conference call to speak on the issue.

The Executive Director will make a report on membership and administration.

5. BUDGET AND AUDIT

A. Financial Statements

Attached are the Operating Statements for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2016.

B. Illinois Bar Center

A status report will be made on the construction relating to updating the Illinois Bar Center in Springfield.

6. SCOPE AND CORRELATION
James McCluskey, Chair

The Standing Committee on Scope and Correlation met on February 15, 2017. Attached is a copy of the Minutes for the meeting. The Chair will make a report on any matters to be considered by the Board.

10. PROFESSIONAL ETHICS OPINIONS

The Board will be asked to adopt Professional Conduct Advisory Opinions 17-01, 17-02, 17-03, and 17-04. Please refer to the attached memorandum from the General Counsel.

 

STANDING COMMITTEES

78. LEGISLATION
Umberto Davi, Chair

The Board of Governors will be requested to take a position on two legislative proposals. Please refer to attached memorandum from the Director of Legislative Affairs.

 

SPECIAL COMMITTEES

108. SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON SUPREME COURT RULE 711

The Board will be asked to consider a response to the recent action of the Supreme Court of Illinois on a proposed amendment to Rule 711. Please refer to attached copies of (1) the letter providing notice of Supreme Court action on the ISBA's 711 proposal from the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts and (2) a memorandum from the Special Committee and (3) a preliminary proposed response submitted by the Special Committee. Immediate Past President Davi will be present and Judge Michael Chmiel will join via conference call to speak on the issue.

110. COUNCIL OF LAW SCHOOL DEANS

A representative of the Council will present recommendations regarding Illinois Bar Admissions.
