In a medical malpractice claim, defendants appealed after a jury entered a verdict in favor of the plaintiff. On appeal, defendants argued that they were entitled to a directed verdict or JNOV because plaintiff’s expert testimony was insufficient to prove negligence and causation. Defendants also argued that the verdict was against the manifest weight of the evidence, that the trial court erred in its evidentiary rulings and jury instructions, and that the verdict was excessive. Defendants also challenged the prejudgment interest award. The appellate court rejected defendants’ arguments and affirmed the judgment. (HYMAN and GAMRATH, concurring)
