Plaintiffs, a group of Illinois Medicaid beneficiaries and residents at long-term care facilities, filed a lawsuit alleging that their admission packets were rejected or mishandled by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, resulting their healthcare facilities not being reimbursed for their care. The district court granted the defendants’ motion to dismiss for lack of standing and failure to state a viable claim and plaintiffs appealed. The Seventh Circuit affirmed, finding that the plaintiffs lacked standing to sue because they did not allege any facts showing that they faced a real and imminent threat of future injury. (ST. EVE and MALDONADO, concurring)
