In a subsequent appeal in a parenting case, the appellate court considered several consolidated appeals relating to two direct criminal contempt findings against respondent’s attorney for making speaking objections, an award of monetary sanctions in favor of the contemnor, and a series of post-trial motions. The appellate court concluded that counsel’s objections did not rise to the level of violating the trial court’s admonishment and reversed the direct criminal contempt findings. However, the appellate court affirmed the award of sanctions against respondent and her trial court counsel and affirmed the denial of respondent’s post-trial motions relating to the re-opening of the proofs, child support, the allocation of health insurance premiums for the minor child, and other ancillary rulings. The appellate court also reversed the denial of respondent’s request to change the minor’s name and remanded for an evidentiary hearing and reversed and remanded the award of retroactive child support and remanded for the trial court to enter an order consistent with its order.
