Illinois Appellate Court
Civil Court
Allocation of Marital Property
Respondent appealed from a judgment of marital dissolution and challenged the trial court’s allocation of marital property. The trial court allocated half of respondent’s pension and half of the equity in her home to the petitioner. The appellate court modified the allocation of marital property, finding that the trial court abused its discretion in failing to properly consider that respondent is the sole provider and caregiver for the parties’ disabled adult son.
