Plaintiffs, who were photojournalists, filed a lawsuit against two deputy sheriffs after they were injured by foam baton rounds that were used by law enforcement to control a crowd during a volatile protest. The district court entered summary judgment for the officers and plaintiffs appealed. The Seventh Circuit affirmed, finding that under the circumstances the officers were entitled to qualified immunity and that the district court did not err in dismissing the plaintiffs’ lawsuit.
