Illinois Appellate Court
Criminal Court
Evidence
Defendant was convicted, after jury trial, of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Evidence of Defendant's prior acts of promoting prostitution was highly probative of Defendant's motive and intent to commit similar acts of sexual misconduct. Court limited any potential prejudice to Defendant by instructing jury that it could only consider evidence of Defendant's prior acts on issues of intent, motive, design or knowledge. Even if evidence of prior acts was error, it would be harmless given overwhelming evidence of Defendant's guilt.(McDADE and O'BRIEN, concurring.)
