(Modified upon denial of rehearing 3/29/19.) Defendant was convicted, after jury trial, of 1st degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. Court properly denied Defendant leave to file successive postconviction petition. New evidence presented by Defendant does not support a freestanding claim of actual innocence. Documents presented in support of motion do not draw sufficient connections between specific acts of police coercion alleged and a pattern and practice of similar misconduct by the same officers. (PIERCE and HARRIS, concurring.)
