Plaintiff, a railroad company employee, was being transported between job sites in a van owned by Defendant company when the van was struck by another vehicle, causing Plaintiff to be injured. Plaintiff twice sued Defendant, alleging that its vehicle insurance policy did not contain minimu8m coverage as section 8-101(c) of Vehicle Code required. Contract carriers falling within provisions of section 8-101(c) are required to maintain insurance policy with uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage substantially higher than other vehicles, and Defendant's policy did not contain this higher coverage. There is no private right of action under section 8-101(c), and court properly dismissed Plaintiff's complaint. (LAMPKIN and MARTIN, concurring.)
